Mountain Man Rendezvous

Kelsie got to participate in a Mountain Man Rendezvous with all the 4th graders. It was really a neat event and I'd never seen anything like this done before. The kids dressed up in "Mountain Man" era clothing and participated in 10 rotations to learn about life in that period. They panned for gold, listened to tall tales, shot Atlatls, sawed logs, and more! Kelsie and her friend (Bri) from her class won the saw logging contest! I know she didn't get that from me!

This picture is of her teacher teaching them how to shoot the atlatls. After the rotations there was a trading blanket where they got the use the beaver pelts they'd been earning to buy and trade items. Kelsie made washer necklaces to sell and loved selling them. Then they went to an assembly with a real Mountain Man. It was really cool. I'm so glad we had this neat even at our school. So fun!!!

Spring is in the Air!

The school had a beach party for family week and got us all excited for SUMMER! Emily went with Lizzie and I took Kelsie and 2 friends from her class. They had a blast dancing all night. Kelsie won 2nd place in the costume contest for her beach wear! She couldn't have been happier! She had put sunscreen under her eyes and carried her beach pail and ball around all night to complete her ensemble. She is now the proud owner of this hula monkey--her prize for winning. He stands outside her room to welcome visitors!

This just proves that it is SPRING. One week we were sledding with our cousins. The next week we were out riding bikes and it was 70 degrees. Crazy Utah weather!

Carter learned to ride his bike and he loves it! Yeah! He's been out racing his friend on their bikes and loves that he can keep up with them now.

The girls built a leprechaun trap with their friends Brianna and Lizzie. Lots of fun! They left some chocolate to lure the leprechaun and after dinner they found a tiny BITE out of it! They were so excited and spent the whole evening chasing leprechauns...and they are sure they saw him run under the Barbie jeep in our garage!

How could I not include this one?!? Matson loves having his picture taken and poses and says "cheese" every time he sees me taking pics of the other kids. He posed for this picture and then decided it wasn't quite right so he moved to this location and cheesed it up for the camera. He had all of us and the neighbors laughing! He is one funny baby and he KNOWS it! We adore him.

There is nothing Matson loves more than puppies! Real ones, stuffed ones, pictures in books--they all make him so happy! And he is so proud to show everyone his favorite "ruf ruf"jammies!

Growing Boys

Carter got a new bunkbed! We moved him out of his toddler bed (that he was way too big for) and got him this new bed. We decided to go straight to a bunkbed so we wouldn't have to buy beds again when Matson outgrows the crib. I thought we were just setting up 1 bed for now, but John had other plans. He insisted on setting up the whole thing because Carter would think it was SO cool! He was right! Carter loves his new "cave" bed. The first night in it he woke up all excited in the morning and told me "I didn't wake up at all last night!" This excitement continued for the next few nights and he really does sleep so much better in a bed that's not too small! Who knew?!? The great part is it doubles as the coolest new toy ever and becomes a pirate ship on a regular basis. When I babysit Kandace's kids on Fridays, it totally entertains all of them!

We moved Matson to a bigger car seat and turned him forward facing! He's getting so big! He now loves riding in the car and is delighted that he can see all the horses we drive by each day!

How cute is this! Matson was relaxing on Carter while they watched Wonder Pets together. They are starting to play together a lot more now! Matson loves Carter, he calls him "Car Car"!
