With the change in weather we are being overtaken by spiders. After preschool I saw a huge spider on the vaulted ceiling. I grabbed the first shoe I saw and started throwing it up, trying to hit the spider (later I realized a fly swatter would be a lot more effective at that height, but that's not the point of the story). :) Next thing I know Matson is smiling at me as he gathers up shoes and starts throwing them in the air with me! He thought I had started a new game and wanted to join right in the fun! He was laughing and yelling "shoe shoe up". He must have thought I had totally lost it when I started chucking a shoe at the ceiling. It turns out it is a pretty fun game when you give it a try. Matson loves it!!!

This Week
Cousin Time! We met Michelle and Garrett at the Dinosaur Museum an had a great time visiting and playing. Carter loved exploring the dinosaur museum with his cousin! Afterwards Michelle showed us a cheap place to get ice cream cones that I didn't know about. Carter was in heaven!
Emily performed in her first grade program. It was really cute and Emily was so excited. She loves learning songs and performing and has been talking about it for months!
Crazy Hair Day at School (Kelsie and Rory)
Soccer!!!! Carter had his first soccer game ever and he was SO excited!!! His game wasn't until noon and it about killed him to wait that long. He asked every ten minutes how much longer until his game. He loved everything about it!!! Here he is in action!
Spring Break
We started out Spring Break trying to do some fun things. We went to Trafalga the first day and took our cousins to the new park by our house the next day. It seemed that everyone else in the whole county had the same ideas for fun and it was CRAZY everywhere we went. The rest of the week we decided to stay home which was a lot more fun than fighting the crowds.
Emily spent most of the week on the trampoline and mastered her back flip (thanks to a little help from Aunt Kandace)!
We painted! The girls and I are painting and decorating their Barbie House. Kelsie is really into designing it and has lots of fun ideas. We are still working on it slowly and we'll post pics when we finish!
The boys wanted to get involved in the painting too so they painted a playhouse. They painted it green--Carter's favorite color! Matson ended up with paint everywhere but he had a great time!
The best part was having a break from homework and schedules and having time to PLAY.

What Kelsie's Up To
Kelsie keeps us busy with all her activities, here's a few of things she was involved with during the week before Spring Break. She ran for Governor of her 4th grade class. She was busy writing 2 campaign speeches, making a poster, and handing out smarties at lunch to go along with her slogan "Be A Smartie Vote for Kelsie". She has really come out of her shell in the last couple of years and likes to be involved and take a chance at new things. I would never have guessed that my shy little girl would choose to do these things. We are really proud of her!
Kelsie and Brianna (her best friend) played their duet of "The Entertainor" at the school talent show. She wasn't even nervous in front of the whole school. They played perfectly an it was SO adorable to watch them with their little head movements and dynamics. They are fun to watch play the piano. Their favorite part was coordinating their outfits!!! They're growing up.
In her free time between piano, choir, activity days, and writing speeches; Kelsie and Brianna decided to plan an egg hunt for the little kids on our street. She is becoming quite the overacheiver. They passed out fliers and had about 10 little neighbor kids who came over for an egg hunt, Easter stories, and crafts. It was really fun but they admitted that maybe they should invite less kids next time! It was busy! Kelsie and Brianna were delighted that Shauna's twins came. They love playing with them!

Texas Roadhouse
FIRST DATE!!!! I'm totally holding onto this picture in case Carter and Brycie ever date. Brycie insists she is going to marry Carter. She tells her mom that soon her name will be Brycie Durrant because she'll be married to Carter. She is SO funny! Carter is oblivious to the whole thing, but they enjoyed their first lunch date during our fieldtrip. Brycie looks pretty happy to be out to lunch with Carter. :)
Texas Roadhouse wins best food and best fieldtrip in my book. Their field trip was so cool. The kids made rolls, drew ALL over the floor, went on a tour of the kitchen, learned to line dance, and got to pick out their own drins (see above). Then we all got to sit in the booths and eat lunch for free. Pretty awesome! One more reason to LOVE that place. It's my favorite!
This is the kids drawing all over the floor. They had a ball! I can't wait to go back next year!
