Carter's BYU Birthday

Carter turned 6 and wanted a BYU Birthday cake and party.  He loves his Cougars!
 BYU Cake
He helped me plan a BYU football birthday party for his friends.  Dad made this cool football toss game for the party!  We also played pin the football on the goal, football knockdown with solo cups, COUGS (our own version of Bingo), and made sports flag things with foam cut outs-I can't remember what they are called :)
My favorite part was the Y Gatorade bottles we made for the kids to take home.
He invited 12 friends and it was a madhouse with all those boys in our house.  We probably won't attempt that again...ever!  Crazy!  This was the only calm moment so I grabbed a picture!
He got this Y Lanyard from a friend.  He was so delighted he couldn't even contain himself!  He said he can be a real BYU coach now.  :)
He loved every second of the chaos!  He chose ice cream sandwiches instead of cake.  Yay!
Here are his BYU Cheerleaders who came to the party!
His super cool Y sweatshirt from Grandma that is seen in every picture :)
A favorite picture from his family party.  My 90 year old Grandma and John enjoying ice cream!  So fun to have Grandma Hansen visiting.

All About Carter

Carter loves all sports.  He plays T-ball, soccer, and can't wait to be old enough for Basketball.  He likes to practice sports, ride his bike, jump on the trampoline, build with Legos, and play Lego Star Wars on the Wii.  He loves to have mom read him information books about science topics and he shares the information with all of us!  He likes to help dad build things and work on projects around the house.  He keeps his tools handy in case there are any projects that he can help with.  He would choose to help with a project over playing with toys, any day.  He wants to be an artist and a farmer when he grows up.  He is strong willed, persistant, and intense.  Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that these are traits that are going to serve him very well in his life one day.  He is ambitious and driven.  He absolutely LOVES kindergarten and wishes he could stay at school all day.  He is annoyed that the kids who need extra help get to stay all day and he has to come home-it just doesn't seem fair to him!  He is a funny kid and keeps us laughing with the funny things he says.  We sure love our big 6 year old.

September

I'm catching up!  The last few posts are catch up posts from the Fall!
The girls set up a pedicure station in the front yard and really pampered themselves!
Looks fun!
Rain Gutter Regatta with Dad!
John took the kids to the Hutching Museum for Pirate Night and Carter was in full pirate mode for several days!
She wore this to school!  Bless her little heart!  I had to take a picture to remind myself of what life was really like while I was pregnant and sick.  The girls got themselves dressed, hair done, lunches made, and caught their carpool before I got up.  It was survival mode.  Sometimes I got surprises like these when I saw them after school!  Emily said, "what's wrong with it? It all matches.  It's pink and black."  It's perfect! :)
Matson's First Fieldtrip to the Fire Station!  He was a little nervous about the whole thing!

Save the Date!

Carter made these "save the date" cards and took them around to some of our neighbors.  They are announcing his birthday on February 4th, 2014!  It will be a BYU Birthday!  This one was for Siri our little three year old neighbor girl.  Her mom was nice enough to send me a copy of it after Carter dropped it off.  Mind you, he took these around in November so we had 3 whole months to prepare for this big day!  He's a funny boy and he LOVES BYU!

Spelling Bee

Kelsie was a Finalist in the school Spelling Bee.  She won the 6th Grade Bee and went on the school bee.  It was fun to watch.  I couldn't even pronounce a couple of the words but the kids did great.  Kelsie handles pressure amazingly well and I'm always impressed when I watch her in front of large groups of people.  She doesn't even seem nervous in front of a whole room of people.  She certainly didn't get that ability from me!
Here are the school Finalists for the Spelling Bee.

Emily's 9th Birthday

Emily's gumball machine cake for her 9th Birthday.
It's hard to believe she's 9.  Emily is sweet and feisty all at once.  She loves playing with her American Girl dolls and LOVES playing school.  She has a whiteboard in her room that she uses daily to play school.  We often find notes on the whiteboard (good and bad) that express how she's feeling about us that day!  It's a good reminder for me some days!  She has lots of energy and loves to jump on the trampoline, do gymnastics, and play soccer.  She loves to sing and dance and put on shows with her sister and friends!  She looks up to her big sister a lot and they are always together.
All she wanted was this pedicure kit her friend Sydney has.  She was thrilled and enjoys setting up her own little spa and inviting us for pedicures.  It's great!
