Opinions on piano programs....
I'm looking for opinions on what piano method to use for a beginner? I've looked into Faber (Piano Adventures) or Alfred. Any opinions on which is a better program? Or which programs your kids have used? I'm wanting to get Kelsie started in lessons but I'm having trouble finding a teacher. In the meantime, I thought she could start at home and have something a little more productive to do this summer. If you have any advice/opinions I'd love to hear it. I know I've got some talented pianist friends out there.

Hannah and Jacob use Alfred's with Rashelle Mousley. She's great and so is the program.

NO real opinion here. sorry. Although, Aubrey started out with Alfreds, though.
Faber's Piano Adventures are quickly becoming popular among piano teachers. My daughters' teacher says she is starting all her new students on Faber. In fact, I believe Randall Faber is coming to town in July or August to do a seminar on his books and method. Two of my kids are in Bastien's books and two are in Faber's. One of my kids started out in Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts but has since moved over to Bastien's. The Music for Little Mozarts was cute but (I felt) it moved too slowly. I am quickly becoming a fan of Faber (though I had always used Bastien before).
I am not familiar with Faber, so I can't give an opinion there, but Kelsea started out in Bastien, but was switched to Alfred and cruised through it. I'm with Melanie, I think the little mozarts is moves way to slow. We started with all four Alfred Primer Level books and finished them in about three months - we then moved to Level one and from there, her teacher supplemented everything else with classical pieces and competition pieces. I really like the Alfred books! (I learned on Bastien books, though, and did very well, so I can't really say which is better.) Good luck. I'd love to hear more about the Faber books.
I learned on the Alfred book and we won't start Isaac until this fall so, I guess I don't know except I learned on Alfred and I turned out alright! Hee Hee
