Today at preschool I was asking all the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up--in preparation for our program next week. Emily said, "a teacher." That was the first time I'd ever heard her say that and I was so happy and proud. I would love to pass my love for teaching down to one of my girls and see them become a teacher too (and I would LOVE to get to help them in their class one day). I was enjoying this thought.
After preschool I asked her if she wanted to be a teacher just like mom when she grows up. She smiled at me like I was crazy and said, "actually Laura and Mary both want to be teachers when they grow up." And so the truth comes out. She doesn't really want to be like her mom. She wants to be like Laura and Mary Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie--her true idols. Oh well, I still enjoyed my little moment of pride.
