Learning to Ride

Tonight we went to Grandma and Grandpa Durrant's house. While we were there Kelsie learned to ride her bike without training wheels! She is very excited and wants to practice all the time. She keeps telling us "this is really fun!" She's also excited for all the neighbor boys her age to see that she can ride a two wheeler too!

Day Off

John had the day off on Friday while his company moved to their new building. We enjoyed having an "extra" day and took the kids to check out the Children's Discovery Museum.

Our favorite part was the store. We had fun making sandwiches in the deli, grocery shopping, and playing cashier!

Emily was TERRIFIED of the life flight helicopter simulator. She wanted to check it out, but every time it starting revving up she would start panicking. She thought the helicopter was going to take off with her in it!

Carter was really good and tried to find new ways to entertain himself while confined to a stroller. I was really amused when I looked in and found he had completely scooted himself to the end of his seat and was desperately trying to get his feet to touch the top of the stroller. Maybe we should take that as a signal that he wants out!

The Peterson Family Reunion

Time to Eat

We were trying to delay starting Carter on solids until 6 months, but after three days of constant crying and grunting we decided he MUST be hungry. The way he was eyeing every bite we took and grabbing at our food was a pretty good indicator! The pictures are of his first try at solids. He was delighted by the rice cereal. He was opening his mouth wide between bites, kicking his legs with excitement, and grabbing the spoon to try to get it into his mouth. We just couldn't get it in there fast enough! Now he feels like the world of food has been opened up to him and tries to swipe at everything the girls are eating in hopes of getting a little taste.

Horton Hears a Who

We took the kids to see "Horton Hears a Who" at the dollar theatre. It was Emily's first trip to the real theatre (for obvious reasons for anyone who knows our energetic child). She was very taken with the popcorn and trying out every chair in our row, but not so into the movie. Surprise. Surprise. We took Carter along as well, thinking it would be an absolute disaster. We would never have dared do such a thing with our first two. Well, he absolutely loved it! He sat on my lap, stared wide eyed at the screen, and didn't make a PEEP for the entire hour and a half. It was so fun to watch his big eyes taking it all in. He has become a pretty content little guy. He likes to chill and has an easy going temperament, which we are grateful for. He definitely takes after his dad.
(The picture is of Kelsie, Carter, and I after the show. Emily was off exploring and couldn't be bothered by photo taking.)

Four months old

I can hardly believe Carter is four months old already. He is growing up way too fast! He is a happy, smiley little guy. He is fascinated by his hands and feet and can often be found grabbing his toes or sticking them in his mouth. He will go to great lengths to get a hold of those cute little toes! He loves his toys and will grab at anything within his reach. He is a social little guy and wants to be seeing and hearing everything we are doing. He is quite content as long as he is near us, but he will not stand for being left alone in a room! I love this age and wish I could keep him little forever. Kelsie shares my sentiments and often comments that she wants him to stay a baby and never grow up. The other day she suggested that I stop feeding him so he would stop getting bigger! That made me smile, but I know just how she feels. I wish I could stop time and linger in this stage a little longer...
