It appears to be our year for broken bones. I hurt my ankle and thought it would be a good idea to walk around on it for a few days and hope it would get better. Turns out it's not a good idea to walk around on broken bones. After three days my entire leg, ankle, and foot were swollen to twice the normal size. I found out today that I have a broken ankle and I'm
supposed to stay off of it, use crutches, and see an orthopedist. I really thought the doctor was kidding about the crutches. He'd obviously never been 32 weeks pregnant and tried to get around on crutches! Just when I was thinking this pregnancy couldn't get any longer or more painful, I added a little more excitement to it. I'm stuck on the coach with a broken ankle in the middle of summer vacation. I'll spare you the details of how I broke my ankle, but let's just say there must be quite a lot of truth to the clumsiness and balance problems that are said to accompany pregnancy.
I told a friend I'd post some pictures of my foot and cast to match up to the ones I had posted of Carter's broken leg a few months ago. Carter does think it's really great that I have a cast like him now (and like Grandpa) and Emily is coveting my crutches to the point that I think she is trying to think of a way to break her own ankle.
Here's my huge, swollen leg and foot. Pretty, huh?

OH MY!! That looks so much worse than when I saw it yesterday! SO glad you went into the dr, but AH MAN! did it have to be BROKEN!? Be sure and use the neighbors to help (er, at least when the neighbors aren't abandoning you and going out of town . . . )
Oh Andrea, I'm so sorry! Having a broken ankle is bad enough but being 8 weeks from giving birth just adds more sympathy. Good luck navigating on the crutches and hopefully it will heal very fast!
OUCH!!! How miserable! And there is no way you are 32 weeks! Where have I been? Oh yeah, I guess life does go on when you are vacationing for a couple of months! Take care of yourself!
Andrea!!! Yikes, I am terribly sorry. Pregnant, summer break, trying to chase three kids around with a broken ankle. Bless your heart.
Wow! That looks awful! I'm sorry, it must be so extremely hard for you!
